Winner Homes & Gardens Dream Kitchen Collection Award

The annual Homes & Gardens Design Awards is a recognition of the best names in interior design, innovative projects to inspire, and beautiful products that have caught the eye. It’s a celebration of standout spaces and pieces, judged by a panel of interiors experts and editors.

We are thrilled to win the “Dream Kitchen Collection” Award for our new Legacy Collection.

Designed to mark our golden anniversary the Legacy Collection celebrates design and craft skills honed over 50 years.

The very first Martin Moore kitchens were natural timber and, whilst we have become known for our timeless, hand painted kitchens, we have recently seen a desire for natural timber; not the strong, stained oaks popular in the 80s, but a more restrained, elegant aesthetic.

Our new Legacy collection is crafted from natural oak in a custom pale washed finish. For centuries, fine English furniture has been crafted from oak for its immense strength and the crispness it retains when carved, which are qualities prized by Martin Moore and ideally suited to our new collection. The door panels feature a stepped frame which is repeated throughout the design, including the subtle capping detail.

The finest timber is used as always, but with this collection extra care is taken in its selection as Richard Moore designed it to celebrate the beautiful timber grain. The wood grain runs vertically in long elevations on the doors, drawers and panels; the only area this does not apply is on wide flat drawer fronts where the grain is horizontal to give strength and rigidity to these narrower panels.

The architectural elegance of the furniture is teamed with luxurious materials; bespoke bronze handles feature a commemorative 50th anniversary monogram and engraved edge details again reflect the linear design.

“Chicken wire” glazing featured on the cupboards of our early kitchens has been brought up to date by the use of glamourous bronze mesh. Bronze butt hinges, natural oak interiors and bronze rails echo the design signatures.
